The first-ever Social Impact Fest is bringing together Southwest entrepreneurs to celebrate success, support social impact and encourage development in San Diego, CA. The event invites business owners who are making a difference—by putting purpose over profit—to enjoy local San Diego fare; gain exposure to like-minded entrepreneurs; learn from expert speakers; and take part in a fast-paced pitch competition for early-stage businesses.
Business owners who want to compete in the pitch competition must be based out of California, Arizona or Nevada. They must be in business for at least one year, but no more than five years, and they cannot have raised more than $1 million or completed a series “A” funding.
The pitch competition includes two rounds. In Round One, owners must create a 60-second YouTube video that includes their name, company and reasons as to why they fit the criteria. The video must be uploaded for viewing no later than June 10th at 5PM, PST. Finalists will be selected by June 15th for a chance to compete in Round Two in San Diego on Saturday, June 30th.
In Round Two, finalists will have five minutes to pitch their businesses once again—but this time in front of a live audience at the Social Impact Fest. A panel of judges will decide and announce the final winner at the end of the event. Winnings include $2,500 cash, a 6-month PR package valued at $12,000 as well as other great prizes.
Social Impact Fest will offer three levels of sponsorship opportunities for interested vendors, which include the following benefits: web, social and traditional exposure, 3-5 minute speaking opportunities and a chance to include marketing materials in the winners’ swag bags.
Festival founders, Publicity For Good and Youngry, envisioned an event that could bring together passionate entrepreneurs who focus on doing good work first. Heather DeSantis, CEO of Publicity For Good said, “We decided to partner with Youngry and launch social impact fest because we wanted to celebrate and support early stage companies that are doing great work while doing good things. We are very excited for our inaugural event and look forward to many more in the months and years ahead.”
