The family found a place they could call home in the city of Morganton in North Carolina where they just purchased a 22-acre plot of raw land where they are slowly building a homestead of their own. It’s their family’s dream to eventually own a 100 to 200-acre homestead where they can live off the land and live sustainably and where their children can get their hands dirty and learn how to live in unison with the earth and its natural gifts and beauty.

Since acquiring their plot of land, they’ve raised a number of livestock such as chickens, ducks and goslings, started a small bee hive and are on their way to building a barn to live in and a garden from which they can grow their own food. Soon, they hope to raise some cattle as well.

Naturally, Homesteaders of America’s event will serve as a stepping stone for both Publicity For Good and Heather’s dream and mission to live sustainably for the improvement and preservation of the planet. Excitement doesn’t nearly scrape the surface for Heather who holds a deep appreciation for homestead living.
